The European Graduate Placement Scheme (EGPS) and the European Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) organised a Work Placement and Experiential Learning fair this November in London. The keynote speaker for the conference was Don Kiraly, author of Pathways to Translation and proponent of collaborative translator training.
The conference aims to provide a platform for universities and language service providers to meet to discuss internships and plan future collaboration.
Translation agencies like Over the Word regularly offer practical training to interns, who benefit from their experience working with professional and specialised teams. Budding translators step out of the classroom and into the workplace, getting a chance to witness at first hand the ins and outs of the industry, the players involved, and the commitment and teamwork required to provide high-quality translation services.
