BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Founded just outside Lyon in 2002, Over the Word specialises in translating financial and legal documents and corporate communications. As part of its growth strategy, Over the Word is looking to hire a Business Development Manager. Based in Paris, you will be responsible for driving Over the Word’s expansion in France and abroad.

 

TARGET CLIENTELE

Financial, legal and communications departments at listed companies, corporate law firms, investment funds, banks, accountants and communication agencies

 

POSITION

  • Full-time permanent position (CDI) (37.5 h/week) with a 2-month probation period
  • Based in or near Paris, you will initially work from home under a teleworking arrangement. In the medium to long term, the goal will be to create an Over the Word subsidiary based in Paris.
  • Training will be provided at our head office in L’Arbresle two days a week for a period to be determined, depending on your profile.

 

DUTIES

In order to strengthen our presence on the translation market, we are seeking to hire a Business Development Manager tasked with generating new business. The successful candidate will be required to:

 

  • Build up our client base in France and abroad in the financial and legal sectors via active prospecting, including cold calling and email campaigns. Your role will involve networking and representing Over the Word at targeted events (business lunches/brunches, etc.).

 

  • Strengthen our existing client base

-          Maintain strong relationships with clients via daily contact, in-depth knowledge of their business environment and regular meetings

-          Forge new contacts within client teams by identifying opportunities (new managers/departments)

-          Deal with to requests (send quotes, handle potential projects through to client confirmation)

-          Maintain efficient communication with clients in order to ensure satisfaction

-          Meet client expectations, in close collaboration with project coordinators, the management team and our in-house/freelance translators

-          Replace the Sales Manager when absent

 

  • Define and implement a marketing & sales strategy in cooperation with the management team

-          Manage and grow Over the Word’s online and social presence (website, blog, Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

-          Organise email and canvassing campaigns aimed at existing and potential clients

-          Monitor technologies used by our competitors

 

APPLICANT PROFILE

Required skills

  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • You have at least 2-3 years’ experience in managing translation projects. You fully understand the ins and outs of a translation request and can therefore immediately identify potential problems. Knowledge of the French translation industry would be a significant advantage.
  • With a natural aptitude for sales, you are looking for a job in Business Development that will allow you to work more closely with clients.
  • Your independence and thirst for challenges will help you integrate a committed team working in an international environment.
  • As an effective communicator and talented negotiator, you are able to develop strong relationships with client managers and high-level employees.
  • A good feel for customer service will be a major asset.
  • For you, cold calling and one-to-one meetings (client meetings, networking) are major sources of inspiration and motivation.
  • You are perfectly capable of working in a highly competitive industry and taking change in your stride.
  • You tackle daily challenges with gusto and are motivated to reach targets.

 

Preferred skills

KNOW HOW

Must be proficient in Word/Excel/Powerpoint

Knowledge of CAT tools an advantage

  • Base salary: in accordance with experience
